THOUGHTS FROM THE SOUL

How to get an A+ in chemistry

The following is an actual question given on a University of Washington chemistry mid term.

The answer by one student was so 'pro found' that the professor shared it with colleagues, via the Internet, which is, of course, why we now have the pleasure of enjoying it as well :

Bonus Question: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)?
Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law (gas cools when it expands and heats when it is compressed) or some variant.

One student, however, wrote the following:
First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So we need to know the rate at which souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving.

As for how many souls are entering Hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today.

Most of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there is more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially.

Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand proportionately as souls are added.
This gives two possibilities:

1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose.

2. If Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over.
So which is it?

If we accept the postulate given to me by Teresa during my Freshman year that, 'It will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you,' and take into account the fact that I slept with her last night, then number two must be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and has already frozen over.

The corollary of this theory is that since Hell has frozen over, it follows that it is not accepting any more souls and is therefore, extinct......leaving only Heaven, thereby proving the existence of a divine being which explains why, last night, Teresa kept shouting 'Oh my God.'

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!!!!!

YEAH! is the year of the rat/mouse/mickey mice/hamster whatever you call it. I know that it is kind of late for me to write this post but oh well what to do, i'm not very free and i'm starting to get lazy to blog.. (oh no, bad news)

but at least i write ,okay... it's just that it will take me more time to write a post because i need inspiration and the right mood to write it or else it would be another nonsense post.

The Story....

On the second day of CNY, we(mostly students of 5sc1 2007 and friends) went out together for our CNY visiting! The good news about this year is that most of us can drive already unlike the previous years where we had to rent a bus and squeeze about 20 people inside!

(cny visiting 2006)

See?which reminds me of the awful experience of having to lie down on my friends' thigh at the last row of the bus! That was fine but it's no fun when THEY START TICKLING YOU! YOUR ENTIRE BODY feels like is being crawled by millions of tiny ants . I can't struggle for freedom as there were not enough space - the bus was very crowed already. i was as helpless as a baby, the only option i could do was to laugh.

okay enough with that now.. let's continue

The first house that they visited was my house.

Sadly not everyone did come to my house because most of them were busy during the morning but never there's always another chance. Then we headed to funnyla's house for lunch. The food was fabulous. ( THANKS A LOT FUNNYLA) Sorry that i do not have the photos but i will upload it as soon as i have it.

After the delicious meal we went off to vincent's house but unfortunately some of us ( Jon, nina and i ) did not have the chance to go because my car was involved in an accident. About the accident i will tell you in my other post because i haven't gotten the pics yet~ so sorry for the inconvience.

Even though there was an accident but it didn't stop us from visiting the next house, leon's house

One Big Family. We should do this often

Then we had our dinner at TKM and Clay's house. We went to Tkm's house first before going to clay's house. The foods at tkm's house were filling and nice so does cly's. At cly's we were lucky to be treated with chocolate wine by clay's dad.

After that we have a pit-stop at Nina's house and some of them gambled at her house.

(someone even bet their phone???)

Then finally, the final destination that everyone's wanting for... CLEMENT"S HOUSE! hahaha.
Why? well you can ask clement himself to know why. ( thanks a lot clement for the hospitality and our apologies for going to your house at an unsuitable time.)

Anyways, I wish everyone, wherever you are, no matter how FAR you are now.

i WISH YOU A HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR~!
MAY GOD BLESS YOU TOO!

Christmas Dinner

During Christmas or can i say last Christmas. (sorry for the lame posting) Tina, Jon and i were fortunately enough to be invited by our athlete teacher Miss Y. to a dinner at ......

For your information, this dinner was organized by Methodist Trinity Church and i could say it was marvelous. It says here, on the ticket, it's a buffet dinner and yes it was but they arrange the table in a way that it is also a candle light dinner.

Before we get our foods, candles were lid on everyone's table then lights were turned off. Plus the soft music that was played, The atmosphere and ambiance was really nice and romantic for couples but since i'm single so it's nothing for me ;p

Because of my lousy camera which has a bit of a problem with it's battery i couldn't photograph a lot thus i can only post a few pictures about it only.

Besides the meal, we were also entertained by music performances. The musicians were all really talented and i found out that i like the musical sound of a Cello.

Anyways, we didn't manage to stay for the entire dinner but it was a great pleasure to be there.

A really nice link...

Thanks to Raymond Chai my old buddy and classmate from primary school. He send me this..

"click me"

and i wish to share it with all my friends
just click that to find out.

Thanks a lot Ray

Best Joke Award winner in UK

This is a "BEST JOKE" award winner in UK

One Chinese person walks into a bar in America late one night and he saw Steven Spielberg. As he was a great fan of his movies, he rushes over to him, and asks for his autograph.
Instead, Spielberg gives him a slap and says "You Chinese people bombed our Pearl Harbor, get out of here."
The astonished Chinese man replied "It was not the Chinese who bombed your Pearl Harbor , it was the Japanese".
"Chinese, Japanese, Taiwanese, you're all the same," replied Spielberg.

In return, the Chinese gives Spielberg a slap and says "You sank the Titanic; my forefathers were on that ship."
Shocked, Spielberg replies "It was the iceberg that sank the ship, not me."
The Chinese replies, "Iceberg, Spielberg, Carlsberg, you're all the same."

This particular joke won an award for the best joke in a competition in Britain .

Conquered 10 km

On the 28th of October, Sunday. I went for this charity run for the heart disease organisation. Under the peer pressure of my friend, Jon, i agreed to participate in this 10Km run for charity.
This was really a great opportunity for me to prove and to challenge myself physically and mentally besides doing it for charity.

I slept at ten and got up at five early in the morning since jon and i wanted to register earlier.

(all geared up and ready to go)

(or maybe not)

As the saying goes " the early bird catches the worm" but for us it was realy a totally different situation. We were early but it was too early for us to go to the start point that is at the civic centre because there was no one there! Plus the place is just beside a cemetery and it was early in the morning with dim light, trees that provided shades and there where not many street lamps so it was dark. It was really creepy.

So, off we go to other places while await for the actually time for the jogathon to commence.

To cut the story short, the run begins! At first we(Christina, jonathan, kelvin and i) were running at the same pace but as you know a race will always be a race and finally all of us got separated with Jonathan leading and i'm somewhere between the first and the last.

(sry no photos during the run)

I never did train for the run so definitely i do not have sufficient stamina for the run... i was like jogging then stop then continue on then stop - lagging all the way but in the end, i made it! Although i'm not the top tens but i manage to finish the run and i did not go blank on the way then got carry away by the ambulance.

So for the result of our group (jon, Tina, kelvin and i) Jon got ten while kelvin got 20 and i was at 32 place mean while tina, got something that we never did have the chance to find out but she is somewhere near the last but all of us did complete the run.

but overall, our school(GRSS) got 1st runner-up for both male and female category(under 18)

okay that's all, i'm off for my so called "holiday"
